APS Relationship Manager, Business and Community Relations Administration

HC Committee Chairman - Patrick McDermott, CEMPatrick has been employed at APS since 1987. Prior to accepting his new position with the Business and Customer Relations Department he was the Section Leader of the APS Outdoor Lighting Department for two and one half years. In this role he led a dynamic team of individuals that handled new construction, maintenance, billing and the implementation of new energy efficient and green lighting technologies such as LED and induction into the palette of lighting options for APS customers state-wide.

Prior to leading the Outdoor Lighting Department, he was a Technical Account Manager for some of APS largest customers including Luke Air Force Base and the west-side metropolitan cities that include: Peoria, Glendale, Litchfield Park, Avondale, Goodyear, Merchant Power Plants, Gila Bend and Buckeye, USAA and many other industrial manufacturing customers. Prior to representing the company to municipal and non-residential customers he was a Design Project Leader (now known as a Customer Project Manager CPM), designing and managing distribution projects in both Yuma and in the metro area.

Before heading into the engineering and construction areas of APS, he was in the Customer Solutions Center for eight years in various capacities and finally as the Call Center Quality Coordinator. Patrick shared APS success at various seminars as a nationally featured speaker on quality measurement.

Patrick is involved with many volunteer and professional organizations. Among other community organizations he has served as the co-chair for the North Phoenix Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Council, Leadership West board member, Fighter Country Partnership Board member as the Honorary Commander Program Chairman and chairman of the Peoria Citizens Corp. Council. Other organizations he’s been involved with are: Chairman of the APS United Way/CSF, Valley Big Brothers/Sisters, West Side Food Bank, Project Angel Tree, Scottsdale Jaycees Parada Committee, Kids Voting and Prison Fellowship.

When time allows he can be found playing drums with his the “Screamin Javelina’s” and other musical ventures. He has performed at several venues including both the Phoenix and San Diego Rock and Roll Marathons, singing the National Anthem at the Diamondbacks, Phoenix Coyotes and at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure along side of Jesse McGuire. He is married to Tara and is the stepfather to Delaney, a delightful 13 year-old. His beautiful and talented wife Tara is employed full-time in the medical billing industry and is very active in many volunteer activities.
