I thought that the F-22 took too long to get to where it was and less than 200 will be delivered. With a second long -term program (since 1993) not meeting fiscal and test targets, our fighter forces are not going to recover and clear the shortage in need airframes. The F-15 series started up in 1968 and first flew in 1972. The design is still flying and being updated for use in the outyears. If we cannot design, test, build, and deploy a major air weapon system in under 10 years, we might as well go to an all UAV force.
