At Fighter Country Partnership, one of our avenues for supporting Luke Air Force Base is through culture and tradition. In keeping with tradition, Luke AFB will celebrate the Air Force’s 66th birthday during the 2013 Air Force Ball. We will have the opportunity to honor airmen, veterans, and retirees who have served our great nation. The event will also pay tribute to the local community for our support of the men, women, mission and families of Luke AFB.
In 2013, FCP and the Blue Blazer Squadron have teamed up with former Wing Commander Brig. Gen. Michael Rothstein’s wife Jennifer, who is spearheading a campaign called “Cinderella and Prince Charming’s Closest”. The concept is to create opportunity for young enlisted spouses of all services (mainly E-5 and below) to have access to formal attire to wear at functions such as the Air Force Ball. The overall goal of our new program is to decrease the cost of attending formal military functions for young enlisted spouses, in the hopes that it will be more affordable to attend. Ultimately, better connecting them to their military family and its traditions.
The initial goal is to have 100 gently used or new formal gowns or cocktail dresses, 25 suits for gentlemen in addition to accessories such as shirts, ties, shoes and handbags.
With the assistance of the Blue Blazer Squadron we are well on our way to providing not only wardrobe donations for the Closet, but also the materials and labor to renovate a space in the old Officer’s Club to become the new home for the Closet.
FCP is collecting donations now for Luke AFB’s Sept 14 Air Force Ball. If you or anyone in your circle are able to make a donation, please contact the FCP office.
Cave Tonitrum!
**update 4 Feb 2020** Sadly, we are reporting that Luke AFB’s old “O” club including this “closet” is scheduled to be torn down in 2020.
